The TLS Copywriting Framework: Train AI to Write Like A Human and Make People Care

ad

We created the TLS (Talk Like Someone) writing style because we got tired of reading AI copy that looked good on paper but didn’t move people to act, click, or care.

What is TLS Writing Style?

After years of blogging, the TLS Club team taught our writing style to AI – it's the same copywriting style behind some of the highest-performing blog posts, IG captions, and video scripts we’ve created.

After fine-tuning we developed a compact version (an AI prompt) that anyone can use, and that is also shared for free in this article.

The 7 Rules of TLS Copywriting and How it Changed AI writing

If you follow these, your writing will start to feel more alive. Less like a brochure, more like a conversation.

1. Drop the Buzzwords

Don’t say:
“We empower Nigerian youth through innovative storytelling.”
Say:
“We help Nigerians write better content that doesn’t sound fake.”

2. Talk to ONE Person

Write like you’re texting a smart friend, not addressing a boardroom.
Instead of:
“Many people struggle with time management.”
Say:
“You ever open your phone to reply one message and end up spending 2 hours watching reels?”

3. Tell It Like a Story

Even if you’re teaching, anchor it in a real-world moment.

Example:
“Last week, a friend asked me why her IG captions weren’t getting likes. I told her: ‘Because nobody’s connecting with what you’re saying.’
Stories pull people in. Even if it’s 2 sentences.

4. Be Specific

Avoid vague advice like “grow your income” or “work on yourself.”
Instead:
“Here’s how I saved ₦1M from a ₦100k salary without borrowing or starving.”
Specifics make people pay attention.

5. Cut the Fluff

No “in conclusion.”
No “this article seeks to unpack…”
No “delve into the nuances…”
Just say what you mean. And say it clearly.

6. Say It How You’d Actually Say It

Test this: Read your sentence out loud.
Would you say this to your guy at Chicken Republic while waiting for food?
If not, rewrite it.

7. Make Them Say “Me Too”

Your goal is connection. Not applause.
When your reader nods or laughs or thinks, “Omo, I feel this" — you’ve done your copy right.

Putting our writing rules into AI drastically improved it's copy, and drastically removed robotic speak from the tool.

Below we share a meticulously designed AI prompt that you can use immediately to get your AI to write human sounding copy. We also trained a GPT all our entire technique for free you can try it below as well for free.
